Looking for a quick and easy way to store your 3D printer filament, without any DIY?
Then you have come to the right place!
This article will give you easy instructions on how to effectively store your 3D printing filament and shield it from degradation due to ambient air humidity. All the items can be bought from Amazon or in retail shops and there is no Do-it-yourself action involved.
In late November 2015, ColorFabb announced the latest addition to their continually growing 3D printing filament portfolio: nGen. With nGen (next generation) ColorFabb aimed to develop a new all-rounder filament that could rival ABS and PLA without compromising on quality, speed, usability or performance. Certainly a tall order, even for an established filament manufacturer.
Regular readers of this blog know that we started our 3D printing adventure with an Ultimaker Original 3D printer a couple of years back. Although it may have come of age today, the Ultimaker Original is still a great 3D printer, its endless hackability and its very solid printing results speak for themselves. The fact that Ultimaker B.V. still markets it today (for around 995 EUR) shows that machine can still compete with more recent 3D printers.
Continue readingThe first time the Witbox caught my attention was in November 2014. I was analyzing the now famous 3D printing trends report from our friends at 3D Hubs and immediately noticed two relatively new FDM printers which made it into the Top 5. One was the Zortrax M200 (still need to get one of those for testing) and the other was the Witbox.
We have just returned from our visit to the 3DP Europe, Belgium's first 3D printing fair. Hosted in the historical Tour&Taxis building, in the center of the Belgian capital Brussels, the 3DP Europe had a fair visitor turnout, an ample list of renowned exhibitors as well as interesting speakers from the 3D printing field. So here are our personal highlights of 3DP Europe 2015:
Welcome to another post in our Advanced 3D printing materials review series. This time, we’ll have a look at another exciting type of 3D printing filament: Glow-in-the-Dark Filament also known as Glow Filament.
Continue readingWhat can you do with a 3D printer today? There is a whole lot of misinformation out there: technology-oblivious and badly informed people will readily try to convince you that you can print “anything” with a 3D printer. While that argument is easily disproven, the category of 3D printing opponents (i.e. those that cannot or do not want to recognize the usefulness of this technology) seems more difficult to convince. They argue that especially FDM printing (i.e. the most commonly encountered type of 3D printing) only serves to make trinkets or toys and that it is hardly ever used to produce something truly useful or artistic.
Last month, the FryskLab, on its MakerTour 2015, passed through Luxembourg and stopped at the FabLab in Belval, Luxembourg. (N.B.: if you do not know what a FabLab is, I invite you to first read our article on the FabLabLux opening). The FryskLab visit was a unique opportunity to have a thorough look at one of the only mobile FabLab’s currently in existence in Europe. Continue reading
Last week, we spent a couple of days visiting the RapidPro 2015 Industrial and Home Professional in Veldhoven, Netherlands. We like to go to the RapidPro: not only is it completely free, but it is open to professionals as well as private users. Whether you are simply looking to see the latest 3D printers or find new and exciting 3D printing materials, whether you need somebody to mold the prototype you have developed or need a high-resolution 3D scan of any object, you will find what you are looking for at the RapidPro.
